The history of western philosophy. Heraclitus

There is nothing permanent except change

As I always believed, Keep reading classics could refresh and purify one's mind to keep fluxing her or his knowledge with those anticient or modern Grest Minds. One could be greater by modeling those great man. Keep striving for what you want to own and try to give it a shot everyday, words have its power when you print it by yourself.

And this is what i got from Chapter IV, Heraclitus. by Russell.

The doctrine that everything is in a state of flux is the most important statement or opinions of Heraclitus. As he said,

"You can not step twice into the same river, for fresh water are ever flowing in upon you". He emphsize that everything is in chaning ever and ever. Fire is the primitive element of all, unlike Thales or Anaximenes, who holds that water and air is the primordial element of all. Everything is born in fire. And oppsities who are against each other spawn the unity which is also changing but always keep the balance, which is the stem of Hegal's philosophy later.

But the search of something permanent is one of the deepest instinct of those philosophical man, they wanna find an ever-lasting thing among all flux world. Actually, even he uttered that everything is in changing all the time. He said, there is an ever-lasting fire in the central world, and all thing born from that. He also believes that there is a permanent who is not subject to flux.

The poets have laments the power of time to sweep away every objects they love.

Time doth transfix the flourish set on youth,

And delves the parallels in beauty's brow,

Feeds on the rarities of nature's truth,

And nothing stands for but for his scythe to mow.
