Violence in Social Movement

It is generally acknowledged that, even if you are treated unfairly, it is more advisable to resort to peaceful actions rather than blatant force. But the irony lies in the fact that, only by destroying the infrastructures and even committing suicide, can their voices be slightly heard and may the society be shocked and awakened. Since protesters cannot attract enough attention from the authority which lacks accountability by peaceful demonstrations, a somehow radical form of violence is then conducted.

However, unfortunately, the violent part of the movement, which mainly harms the buildings, is more likely to be utilized and exaggerated by the government to describe participants as mobs and therefore justify the legitimacy of crackdown. In the meanwhile, the abuse and unlawful acts of the police are largely neglected and censored. Selected facts and circulation of information under heavy censorship tends to defame the protesters and totally rejects to mention the responsibility of the unqualified government.
