How bad is the individual business in Hong Kong under the 5th waves of the pandemic?

It’s more than a month since the 5th waves of the outbreak of the pandemic in Hong Kong, we knew that the confirmed cases number are hitting all time high everyday in the past week, many people started eating at the office, no matter you are order to go or make a lunch box at home, sounds everyone is fearing to eat outside now.

People said that the 5th waves of the pandemic is giving further massive hit to the individual business in Hong Kong, in fact, some super-size chain might not able to suffer such impact, no wonder the individual shop….

I didn’t eat outside for nearly a month, and I even hardly go down to get the order to go, I join my colleague for the delivery more though. Today we are not going to order for the delivery, we need to pick the order to go by ourselves in the Japanese noodle shop downstairs.

The Jap noddle shop is always full when you go down at 12:50pm – 1:15pm, many people were waiting outside for the table, but the scene is absolutely different to what they used to, the shop still got 4 / 5 tables occupied but they are nearly 80% tables are empty, the contrast is really obvious, Then - Always full, Now - nearly empty. I can’t really believe what I have seen downstairs today to be honest.

Another bad news is that our floor got 2 confirmed cases in the same unit, where is just next to our office…it’s not about if I will get inflected now, it’s about if we are forced to close the office now, if they do, old man probably will shut the business as he is already 72+, hopefully we don’t need to evacuate from the building….
