Data Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer excited to join our teams to help us build the infrastructure for digital video. We have an opportunity to work with high-frequency, high-profile, petabyte scale data aggregation and analytics of video consumption behavior that touches billions of devices globally.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will report into the Head of Engineering and collaborate directly with product stakeholders, as well as teams in New York and Buenos Aires. This will be the first specialized data engineering position, and will be very hands on, with future opportunity to help shape and build out our data engineering team.

Best fit candidates will have at least 3 years of experience in a data engineering role in a cloud computing environment, with internet-based software development experience.

Roles & Responsibilities

● Be a self-motivated and proactive individual, excited to work with experienced developers in NYC and Buenos Aires.

● Create and negotiate story cards in collaboration with team

● Participate in a software development process that includes 3 week sprints, daily standups and heavy use of JIRA

● Design, author and ship ETLs and streams, data pipelines, data analytics front-ends, and APIs using appropriate technology

Requirements

● 3+ years of professional experience in software development with a data engineering and analytics focus

● Competency in systems analysis and ability to communicate and evangelize recommendations and plans to other engineers in written and presentation form

● Experience with Google BigQuery, ElasticSearch and related technologies

● Experience with HTML, Javascript, and knowledge around delivering high quality experiences in applications on the web

● Able to quickly understand a logging infrastructure generating 3 billion+ events per month and scaling quickly

● Understanding of DNS, HTTP, and related foundational web protocols and RFCs

● Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, comfortable with using video and online collaboration tools

● Experience with video - HLS, DASH, or other formats a plus
