Crisis in Hong Kong

In the past few days, we witnessed the public assault of protest organisers, arrest of elected representatives and social activists. Police entering metro station for mass arrest, beating up citizens and protesters alike, resulting in serious injury, including elderly and children. The metro system is sealed off where first aides are not allowed to enter.

The government keeps on talking about communication, but what happens is the spread of white terror.

On one hand, we see the prohibition of peaceful rally, excessive police violence, detainees tortured and sexually abused etc. Citizens who disagrees with said behaviour also faces the same fate.

On the other hand, we see mass scale political oppression initiated by the establishment, including corporations and government firing employees in support of the democratic movement, in order to curb any resistance.

Seeing from all evidence, the government is not trying to solve livelihood problems but keep on violently dissolving the movement that is started by the impoverished students and citizens.

The government has twisted a governance issue into a political one, and shirk away from its deficiency. It tries to divert the attention of the people by inciting conflict among the people, and pitting the police against protesters.

Carrie Lam is creating a chronic repression in Hong Kong, and turning it into a police state, with no rule of law, common sense and liberty, leaving us with a corrupted social system, where threats from the police and mobsters are commonplace. She is still trying to silence the people by intimidation.

I’m so scared when I see comrades being beaten one by one, even fracturing bones. But we shall not yield. It is only by fighting back that we have the chance to preserve our conscience, integrity and our very lives. For the future of Hong Kong, we will stand up time and again to insist the 5 demands:

1. A complete withdrawal of the extradition bill

2. A retraction from the government to its characterisation that the protesters were 'rioters'

3. Unconditional and immediate release of protesters who were arrested and charges against them dropped

4. Establishment of an independent enquiry to investigate police violence during clashes

5. Genuine universal suffrage

No Compromise on the 5 demands!

Give us liberty, or give us death!
