Are we going to succeed when we are taught only to study hard and get a better job at school?

I didn't make a post for years on facebook, I just made one yesterday saying that I have been writing on the blockchain social media platform for 2 years, can't believe that I have been writing more than 360K words these years, this post caught my teachers and old school mates attention and they click like on my post,

Then I suddenly think about my school life back in 20 years ago and wondering how are they doing now. I did join the gathering with them regularly before the pandemic, some of them doing not too bad, but as I remember none of them start their own business but only get a "stable" job, maybe in government department, maybe NGO, etc. None of them got a significant achievement, as least they don't think they do.

The people whom attending the gathering were the people whom labeled as a good students in the past, they studied quite hard, never trying to break any rules in the class, always listen to teachers advises, end up they have a good and stable job in their life, it's not bad.

And some people in the class were completely different, they never pay attention on the class but always sleeping, never listen to the teachers, they smoke, the fight, they try to escape from the school, etc.

But so funny to seeing that they have greater achievement in their career, some of them become a good salesman and making US$10000-15000 a month (the other whom have a good and stable job are only having US$5000-6500 a month), some of them even started their company for year and driving a Maserati sport car.

These bad students seldom join for the gathering maybe they are too busy in dealing with different people, then I started thinking, what made them so different? They don't have good educational background but they are doing way better than the other whom study very hard and always follow to the rules in the class.

Maybe their rebellious DNA helps them to succeed? They never satisfied to only follow the others instruction and confine themselves in the comfort zone, they love adventure, explore the new stuff, so they never follow the rules, they dare to break the rules to see what's going to happen that making them end up become so different to the others and succeed.

If my assumption is correct, it's not too bad to being rebellious when you are in college, but of course, never do the bad and illegal thing otherwise you are going to ruin your life.
